Posada Amazonas is ideal for families with small children, cultural travelers, adventurers at heart, and nature lovers.

Your visit makes a meaningful direct impact on the Native Community of Infierno. The experience at the lodge let you climb a canopy tower 42 meters high with a breathtaking view. You can also visit the calm waters of Lake Tres Chimbadas and an the ethnobotanical Ñape center where the community will share with you their traditions.

Where is Posada Amazonas?

Posada Amazonas is located inside a + 9500 hectares communal reserve, belonging to the Ese Eja of Infierno Native Community in the Tambopata River, in Madre de Dios - Peru.

Posada Amazonas requires at least two hours of travel time. To begin your rainforest Amazon tour, you take a quick plane trip from Lima (1 hour and a half) or Cuzco ( 30 minutes) to the city of Puerto Maldonado, Southeast of Peru.

After we meet you at the airport, we'll take you to our office 5 minutes away to refresh yourself and prepare for the journey to the lodge.

We had the experience of a lifetime at Posada Amazonas! For our first trip ever to Peru, we wanted to see as much of the country as possible, and started our journey here. Everything went seamlessly- from the pick up at the airport, check in at the office, to the delicious lunch on the boat during our transfer. The next 3 days were filled with wonderful experiences including the canopy hike, oxbow lake cruise, sunset cruise and more. Luis was our guide extraordinaire. His knowledge and ability to spot interesting flora and fauna were amazing. The rooms are clean and spacious and perfect to experience the jungle. You haven't lived until you are awakened by the calls of howler monkeys at 4:15am! Highly recommended! Read all

This is not a resort but rather a very nice and comfortable eco lodge to view wildlife with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Keep in mind that there is a lot of walking and stairs (almost 0.5 miles) to get to the lodge from the water transport river bank where you are dropped off. The clean spacious rooms are open air concept with mosquito nets for the beds and you can listen to rainforest creatures all night. The activities they offer are diverse (e.g., night hikes, water excursions to see caimans, otters and bird watching, visit to local farm and 40 meter observation tower). You are fed well with breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets. Many thanks to our tour guide Luis M. for his extensive knowledge of the rainforest and keen eyes/ears to find hidden creatures while keeping our group safe. Read all

Had an amazing stay of 3 nights here. Guide (Lucia) was fantastic, even having a phone attachment to allow you to take photos through her telescope and get fantastic shots, and much of the trip was solo with her. The lodge had blazing fast wifi, mix of craft beers, and was very comfortable (as long as you don't mind the odd butterfly or frog wandering into your room). Friendly service and really well organized w/ lots of variety of things to do - I happened to stumble across a giant Harpy Eagle right outside the lodge, just incredible. Only thing that could be improved is more variety of food and condiments to spice it up, but it is in the middle of the rainforest after all Read all

This place was awesome. Fantastic spot in the jungle, heaps of tours around and the food/drinks they supplied were amazing. Buffets three times in the jungle, as well as fruit/snacks/water/juice available around. Saw a bunch of wildlife, even some monkeys practically in the lodge. Rooms were good, no windows so open air experience. Naturally with the heat, can be hard to moderate temps but the bugs are kept away by mosquito nets on your bed. Highly recommend this place if you can deal with a few insects at night around the lodge. Read all

Amazing experience with amazing staff!! Even before landing in Peru, Mónica was so helpful with making sure everything was ready for our arrival; I had a lot of trouble with making the payments online but she assured me and helped me get it taken caren of. From the pick-up at the airport, with a yummy eco-friendly lunch during the drive to the river port, to the arrival at the lodge and the excursions, everything was incredibly well planned and executed. The room was lovely; all the meals were delicious; and our guide, Emperatríz, was so sweet and extremely knowledgeable. It was really the perfect blend of comfort at the lodge and nature experience during the excursions on the river and in the forest. Well worth the price; I just wish we'd gotten to stay longer! It's a trek to get to the Amazon but so worth it! Our guide Josmel was awesome and with us every step of the way. He helped us pick out the best activities and really made sure that we enjoyed ourselves. The food was delicious and purified water was always available. Although it was hot, humid, and there was a bit of a roughing it aspect, it was a once in a lifetime experience and we were lucky to be paired with Josmel! Read all

Ines (our guide) - a great thank you for a wonderful time and experiences. Very nice lodge, warm staff, great food, lots of to see and feel. Night walks, Giant Otter search in lake Oxbow, Canopy tower in the sunrise, river cruise in sunset, Parrots and Macaws Claylick, and much more. A very big thanks from Lithuania! Read all

Visited dry season - late July 2024 Wow, this truly exceeded our expectations... leaving reviews isn't something I typically do.... We spent our first two nights at Posada Amazonas and paid additional in advance to get a private boat transfer to the Tambopata Research center. I advise booking this directly as it meant we got the best advice from the head office as many of the people working there have guided in the past, can answer any questions and know how to make the most of what's on offer. The amount and variety of animals/birds/insects we saw was incredible. Our guide Boris went above and beyond for us especially with his skill in seeing animals we would have otherwise missed. This alongside his knowledge of the rainforest, photography skills, birding ability, demeanor and sense of comradery meant we were always engaged, knew what was going on and felt safe. The rooms we stayed in at the resorts were exactly as advertised and the outdoor bath in the dulux suite was incredible. We had a good variety of tasty food every night and we didn't have any repeats across the two lodges over our five night stay, cocktails available at the bar and the willingness and understanding to include local native ingredients was elite. It being the Amazon you will be damp and depending on the season and humidity your clothes may not dry for days...be prepared and take enough clothes. A pair of binoculars are a must to truly feel like you've made the most of your time; we used them for elusive animals that move on quickly or whilst Boris was establishing a better position with his scope. On the water with a 360 degree view they were a must too! No need to be an expert, once we saw some trees or bushes moving Boris did the rest. The whole experience blew us away! Photos taken on our phones courtesy of Boris were national geographic worthy at times and are now digital treasures we can keep for ever. While five nights might sound like a long time it flew by and meant we could see a wide variety of wildlife and terrains, if you are staying for a shorter time just remember to temper your expectations, embrace whatever is put in front of you be it bird, mammal, reptile, amphibian, arachnid or insect; you are choosing to travel to the Amazon rainforest, not a zoo! Definitely not a three star hotel. Amazing experience. Very family friendly the kids did not want to leave. The meals were delicious and very suitable for anyone with dietary restrictions. Our guide Eddie was amazing! 5/5 experience.. would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the Amazon with younger kids. Rooms: The rooms are excellent, but open air.. or the rooms are open to the outdoors, no windows or screens other than mosquito netting over the beds. Nearby activities: Too many to mention, one notable activity we did was the macaw clay lick tour that left the property at 4:30 am. Nothing like cruising down Tambopata in pitch darkness! What a thrill. Safety: Nothing to worry about other than maybe a howler monkey or frog coming to visit your room Walkability: There were tours around the property that are included in the price of the stay. Our guide was excellent. Food & drinks: The food was top class, fresh and prepared with love and attention. Lots of options for people with dietary restrictions. Read all

It's taken time to process our stay here. It's a truly beautiful ecolodge! That being said, if you're not a fan of insects, lizards, and spiders, this may not be your cup of coca tea. I'm a huge fan of all of the above! Lodge is open air! No windows, no A/C! Beds are armored with mosquito netting. Bats, lizards, monkeys(!) Have free rein of your room. Amenities are simple, yet wonderful. Food excellent! Staff amazing! Trip down the Tambopata alone is worth the stay! Saw 4 of 8 native primates on first full day of stay! Read all

Our family of 5 had an incredible time at this lodge exploring the Amazon. The collection of activities they had available to do on your schedule was incredible! From the moment you land at the airport, you are in the hands of your guide who will be with you for the entirety of your stay. They will do as much or as little as you want to do. We spent 2 nights here, which was ideal to experience the jungle. We did a total of 5 excursions, including sunset walks, river otter search, night walks, etc. The wildlife we were able to see was awe-inspiring and our guide, Josmel, didn't miss a thing! He had eyes like a hawk!!! Our kids haven't stopped talking about it since we've been back. It was their favorite part of a two week trip in Peru! Read all

We stayed here for two nights after visiting Lima and Cusco. The accommodations were all handled through Alpaca Expeditions as we had them curate a trip for us that included Cusco and the Amazon. This lodge is so peaceful .. tucked right into the forest and off the Tombapata River. The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff very friendly. The food was delicious and plentiful. We had a guide Fred who met us at the airport and then from a van took us to a boat for a ride down the river to the lodge. He showed us so many wonderful species of birds, butterflies and other wildlife in and off the water. We learned about plants used for medicinal purposes. So many new things for us to enjoy. So happy we got to experience living in the Amazon for a couple of days. Read all
