Day 1: Explore the Enchanting Amazon with Your Family
Embark on a family adventure as you land in Puerto Maldonado, the gateway to the Amazon Rainforest southeast of Peru. A brief 1-hour bus ride followed by a scenic 1-hour boat journey will transport you to Posada Amazonas, a spacious ecolodge nestled in a 9.5K-hectare private reserve belonging to the Ese Eja Native Community of Infierno, with the Tambopata National Reserve as its backdrop.
Indulge in your first taste of Amazonian cuisine aboard the boat, bidding farewell to the city and embracing the breathtaking jungle landscapes. Posada Amazonas, an eco-friendly haven, houses the Discovering New Species Project under the Wired Amazon Program.

Before dinner, delve into the lodge's ongoing research during a night lecture presented by the resident biologist—discovering new species in the Peruvian Amazon is more fascinating than you may think!
Day 2: Dive into Nature's Wonderland
Embrace the early morning to witness wildlife in action. Head to the Tres Chimbadas oxbow lake, famous for its family of giant river otters. Here you will be able to spot a great diversity of wildlife such as birds, caimans and even piranhas.

After a refreshing break at the lodge, venture to the parrot clay lick for an immersive nature experience. Let your inner artist come out and draw your own parrot or macaw.
Enjoy our dedicated spaces for small children next to the main restaurant, where your kids will find a playground to create their own adventures.
By the afternoon, enjoy a playful riverbank session looking for capybara or maybe jaguar footprints

Day 3: Immerse yourself in Culture and Cuisine
After breakfast, stand in awe at the ancient Ceiba tree, a majestic presence in the Peruvian Amazon. Feel dwarfed by its power in the heart of the forest.
Aftewards, embark on a culinary journey and learn the art of cooking a traditional Ese Ejas dish with your guide, using local ingredients to prepare a delightful lunch.
Day 4: Farewell with a Purpose
As your expedition concludes, bid farewell with gratitude for the memories created. Your visit directly supports Wired Amazon's scientific projects and conservation efforts, contributing to the understanding of Tambopata National Reserve's biodiversity. Return to the city, and fly onwards with the satisfaction of a meaningful and unforgettable family adventure.

The lodge is located in the middle of the forest accessible only by boat. The experience was very unique and exciting. Service is great, and the fun part are the nature activities and tours the hotel offers for free. We had an amazing tour guide that had a lot of knowledge and was fun to spend time with. The rooms are totally open to the forest which is really cool the struggle is the there is no privacy at all in between the rooms, also food was pretty basic. All together a very unique experience. This hotel is the perfect blend of comfort and hospitality, with the natural experience. The hotel is reached by a hours boat ride from Puerto Maldonado, expertly organized and accomplished. Most staff are members of the local Esa Ejja community. The food is good and plentiful. Hot water is always available and lovely bedding features mosquito nets. There is of course no air conditioning (one side wall is open in rach room) and the electricity is off for a few hours at night affecting overhead fans, so I was glad to have brought a small battery powered fan for sleeping. But the best of the experience is the wildlife. Our expert guide Oscar Mishaja introduced us to nearly 100 bird species, along with caimans, river otters, poison dart frogs and capybara. We had a surreal experience at Refugio Amazonas. From the well organized transportation to the warm welcome, hospitality and the experience of living in nature - we loved it all. El mejor hotel para visitar la Amazonia peruana. Hotel eco turístico metido en medio de la selva, equipado para visitar y vivir la selva, su flora y fauna, en todas sus facetas. Todo incluido, con guías preparados y amables, resultó una experiencia increíble para mi familia. Dentro de las opciones no se debe perder el Canopy de 45 metros de altura para observar y escuchar la selva, así como el lago de las tres Chimbadas, lugar único para ver caimanes, nutrias gigantes, monos y aves exóticas.
