Rainforest Expeditions Guide
Hi, I'm Fernando Ccoa Quispe. I was born on June 16, 1981, in Cusco, but I grew up in Puerto Maldonado, surrounded by the rich biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest. Today, I still live in Madre de Dios, where I've built my career as a tour guide—something I'm deeply passionate about. Recently, I completed the 2024 First Aid and Interpretation courses, which earned me an international certification from Interpret Europe.
Since 2005, I’ve had the privilege of guiding people from all over the world, showing them the beauty and diversity of the Amazon. I studied to become a guide in Puerto Maldonado, and over the years, I’ve specialized in birdwatching, a subject that has always fascinated me. I love sharing my knowledge and passion for birds with visitors, and in addition to Spanish, I also speak English, which allows me to connect with travelers from different cultures.
One of my fondest memories was at Refugio Amazonas Lodge, where a group of Australian tourists, who were really pleased with my work, surprised me by singing a song for me on their last night. Moments like that, along with the daily surprises the rainforest offers, make my job truly special.
The conservation of the Amazon is one of my biggest concerns. I always try to convey to visitors how crucial it is to protect this ecosystem so it can continue being a source of life. I love hiking through the rainforest, observing the flora and fauna, and my favorite animal is the eagle, for its strength and dominant presence in the forest. In my free time, I enjoy being with my family, staying active, and dreaming of exploring other rainforests around the world. Languages: English, Spanish Specialized knowledge: Birdwatching, photography guiding.
