Rainforest Expeditions Guide
Hello! I’m Silverio Duri, and I have the privilege of guiding visitors through the beautiful Amazon rainforest. I was born and raised in the Native Community of Infierno, but I currently live in Puerto Maldonado. I trained at the Tourism Office in Puerto Maldonado, and since 2022, I have been an official guide with Rainforest Expeditions, specializing in birds.
From a young age, I felt a deep connection to nature, and my love for animals, especially birds, inspired me to become a field guide. One of my most memorable experiences was when I guided a group of birdwatchers from Audubon Massachusetts. During our journey from the Tambopata Research Center to Puerto Maldonado, we were fortunate enough to spot an impressive Harpy Eagle. We stopped to observe it through the telescope, and everyone got to enjoy its majesty. My favorite activities are the Canopy Tower, where I can contemplate the rainforest from above, and participating in citizen science projects, such as using camera traps to see wildlife in its natural habitat. I firmly believe in the importance of conserving the Amazon rainforest. By participating in its protection, we not only safeguard our biodiversity but also support the ecological balance of our planet. I feel lucky to be in daily contact with nature, and I’m fascinated by the diversity of ecosystems in Tambopata. In my free time, I enjoy spending moments with my colleagues and time with my family, although my true passion will always be ecotourism. Languages: English, Spanish
