About the Crested Eagle

• Weight: Males typically weigh between 2.75 to 3.5 kg (6 to 7.7 lbs), while females are larger, weighing between 3.5 to 4.75 kg (7.7 to 10.5 lbs).


• Appearance: It has a distinctive crest on its head, which can be raised or lowered. Its plumage is generally dark brown with lighter underparts, and it has strikingly large talons adapted for gripping prey.

Habitat, Range, and Diet of the Crested Eagle

• The crested eagle inhabits the dense, undisturbed rainforests of Central and South America, ranging from southern Mexico to northern Argentina. They prefer areas with tall trees for nesting and abundant food sources.
